“Fuck It, Let The Hunt Begin;” Venice Declares Open Season on Homeless People

September 4th, 2026

Facing an ever-increasing number of unhoused individuals in the community, Venice businesses have found a solution: hiring a company that hunts them for sport. Ghost Town Security prides itself on its ability to “move on” homeless people, through any means necessary. Ghost Town has claimed that this is done through offering cash incentives, unhoused individuals targeted by the group have claimed bodily harm and the destruction of their property were also very convincing strategies.

While proudly advertising their hiring of previously incarcerated individuals, this also implicitly communicates to potential customers that some employees will inevitably be well-versed in finding violent solutions to problems. The organization is also being praised for its rapid response time, ensuring any confrontations are handled before the police can arrive and enforce outdated concepts like the law.

While one may question why the community does not simply pool the thousands of dollars spent on Ghost Town Security to create a more permanent solution to homelessness, brutalizing outsiders seems to be something everyone can agree upon. More and more of Ghost Town’s signs are appearing all over the neighborhood, and the group is currently in the process of acquiring the licenses required to carry firearms, clearly to make these “cash incentives” more appealing. As public safety continues to be both privatized and militarized, we can only hope that one day we will see city-wide hunts for the less fortunate funded by our corporate overlords.
